There are many activities for the young and the young at heart. The Hope Mills youth association is one of the largest such organizations in NC and also has three active senior citizens center. Hope Mills is a family focused town with numerous annual events, such as 4th of July parade, activities and fireworks, a Christmas parade and festival of lights celebration, and Ole Mills Days- a fall celebration of the heritage of Hope Mills as a former cotton mill village, which is held in October.
Hope Mills was established in 1891 but can trace its beginnings back to 1766, when due to the natural water power and the abundance of timber, a lumber camp; a saw mill, a grist mill, and a pottery business were established. In 1839, construction of the first cotton mill was completed and was the beginning of a new era for the town. Much of the heritage and the town's name itself can be attributed to the cotton milling industry that followed.
Before the town was known as Hope Mills, the area was known as Little Rockfish Village. As of shopping in Hope Mills, you have many options. There are numerous shopping centers in the area including a Wal-Mart in the heart of Hope Mills. The Cross Creek mall is just minutes away from Hope Mills along with other shopping centers in Fayetteville. Hope Mills is conveniently located, it's minutes from Fayetteville, Ft. Bragg, Robeson County, and not far at all from Hoke and Harnett counties.

First Time Buyers >The Seller May Pay
The costs of buying a home may be daunting. For example, you may have finally saved enough for a down payment on your first home, with a little left over to buy the furniture you will need. Then you hear about having to pay closing costs you weren't anticipating, and this may seem like a real setback.
One way to cover such a shortage is to make the sellers an offer that calls for them to credit you for some of the closing costs. As a rule, the sellers may pay a maximum of 3 percent of the sales price if the buyer is putting five percent down. If the buyer is making a down payment of 10 percent or more, the seller can contribute up to 6 percent of the sales price to cover the buyer's closing costs. Some items, such as prepaid taxes and the first month's mortgage payment, must be paid by the buyers. Sellers may also contribute to paying the appraisal, points, title insurance, settlement attorney fees, state or local transfer taxes and similar items.
Keep in mind that if the credit is included in the price of the house, the appraiser will have to justify the amount, based on sales prices of similar homes in the neighborhood.
